LUKA, as its name suggests, is a friendly companion app designed to guide people through their very first experience with a pet. From understanding the basics of care to creating a bond with their new furry friend, the app is built to offer both emotional support and practical knowledge.
Driven by the idea of making the journey into pet ownership less overwhelming and more joyful, I carried out the entire research process myself: from identifying users’ anxieties and needs to defining key features and building a UI kit that balances clarity with warmth. The goal was to design an experience that feels approachable, reliable, and full of empathy.
The visual identity of LUKA reflects this philosophy. Soft tones inspired by nature—gentle greens, sandy beiges, and playful touches of orange—set a calm yet lively mood. These colours not only bring a sense of trust and serenity but also highlight the positive emotions that come with welcoming a pet into one’s life. The logo, a minimal yet expressive mark, was designed to be instantly recognisable and evoke the idea of companionship and care.
When shaping the interaction flows and interface components, adaptability was key. Whether displayed on a mobile screen, used in onboarding tutorials, or integrated into reminders and notifications, the design maintains a cohesive and user-friendly look.
Ultimately, by combining thoughtful UX research with a clear and engaging UI, the project creates a supportive environment where first-time pet owners feel confident, prepared, and genuinely excited about their new adventure.
